Department Overview:  
The Community Services Department’s mission is to provide a range of supportive, educational, preventative, and recreational services to the citizens of Barnstable regardless of age or infirmary at our community facilities as well as our waterways. In addition, this Department insures adequate preservation of our natural environment.

Divisions within the Department include: 
Marine and Environmental Affairs Division, Recreation Division, Senior Services Division.

Numbers of staff with general duties: 
64.25 total staff which includes: (I) Director of Community Services, (9.33) full time and (63.70) part time seasonal Recreation staff, (12.89) Senior Services Staff, and ((15.38) Marine and Environmental staff.

Important to note: 
The Community Services Division is largely self-supporting through the collection of user fees and fines.
