(Barnstable, MA) The Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works Water Supply Division will be replacing two (2) broken fire hydrants. One fire hydrant is located on Scudder Avenue between the intersection of Smith Street and Craigville Beach Road and the other fire hydrant is located at the corner of West Main Street and Betty’s Pond Road in Hyannis. The replacement of these two (2) fire hydrants is important for the fire-protection of the residences in the area and overall maintenance and repair of the Hyannis Water System.

This repair is scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 starting at 8:00 AM and is to be completed by approximately 2:00 PM. There will be approximately 18 customers affected by the fire hydrant repair on Scudder Avenue. They have received a notice of water service interruption. The water-service interruption for these customers will happen on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 8:00 AM and is scheduled until approximately 2:00 PM.

No customers will be affected by the fire hydrant repair at the corner of West Main Street and Betty’s Pond Road.

The contractor will make every effort to minimize the length of time that customers are inconvenienced and will re-establish service as soon as possible.
Please be aware of construction activities in these areas during this time and drive carefully to protect the general public and the repair crew.
