The Barnstable Town Council, on January 21, 2010, voted to authorize a
renewable energy commission and is seeking candidates interested in serving in
an advisory capacity to the town council and town manager. The charge of the
commission is to promote energy conservation, energy efficiency, the development
of renewable energy, and exploring other ways to reduce carbon emissions among
the town’s residents, businesses, and in municipal affairs. These goals should
be accomplished through educational activities and programs designed to
encourage stakeholders to evaluate their energy use and to consider renewable
energy alternatives.
