|Two Majors Down, Two To Go|
The Open at Royal Birkdale
Now we wait until July 20th for the next major event. That is the date of this years Open Championship.
This years Open is at Royal Birkdale located in Southport, England and has hosted a few Open Championships.
The course is pretty easy, playing around 7,000 yards and a par 70 for The Open. The last Open here was in 2008 where Padraig Harrington won with a +3…
Now that may not say it's an easy course.
The key about this course is the wind, like many European courses. When the wind is whipping at Royal Birkdale it makes it one of the toughest tracks on the tour.
But when (and if) the wind dies down, scoring opportunities are everywhere.
With all the random winners this season, it is tough to tell who may win this one. Depending on who gets hot or even who has experience playing here.
The one golfer to look out for as we get closer is Rickie Fowler.
I know his name pops up almost every weekend, but there is a reason.
He hasn’t won a major, so he is hungry. Now that Sergio Garcia has one, he is arguably the best golfer without a major.
Another advantage, the wind. Fowler is known as one of the best wind players on Tour and seems to thrive in it. If he can match his hunger for a first major, up with his great wind play he can finally capture the ever allusive major championship and make a late push toward the Fed Ex Cup.
